lost all my work

I was just working ALL DAY on an audiofile and Audition told me it had reached its limit of data it could use and wouldn't save, so I had to close Audition and sure enough, absolutely none of my work was saved. Is there a way I can recover this?

 

And before you ask, the answer to whatever "depends on your settings" questions are going to be "I don't know". I was recording stuff with Adobe Audition and it suddenly wouldn't save and I want to see if I can get it all back or if I have to do that WHOLE DAY OF WORK over again. And also if there's a way I can prevernt this from ever happening again.

I only have one question, and it's not about settings. Were you recording in Waveform or Multitrack? If you were recording in Waveform view, and you filled the buffer space available (which would certainly give you that message), then yes, you've lost the lot - that isn't recoverable. If you were recording in Multitrack, then that would have been direct to the final file, and even if you get a crash whilst this is happening, you can generally recover the recorded file up to that point.

 

Recording in Waveform view simply isn't worth the risk unless it's something short and easily repeatable.

    I had the exact same problem, except I didn't even close audition, I just went back to multitrack after editing all my stuff in waveform. and then when I went back, All my progress was gone. Is it gone for me too then?

    Highlight the bit you want to remove and hit the Delete key. This will split your track into two clips and you will have to slide stuff around a bit, but it's much easier to get timing right this way. And it's non-destructive; you can easily undo and redo edits without creating massive undo files. Once you are used to it, you'll wonder why you ever used Waveform view for editing at all!


    Once again, thank you for trying to help; I think I might be just kind of dumb with this, but I can't figure out how to highlight stuff on multitrack view. It also won't let me do the other stuff I need to do like Declip Declick Dehum and what not. So I'm working in Waveform again but it won't let me do anything now, saying that my files are too full, but I don't know what files are full. I haven't really done anything on here. I think I changed the disk cache settings and I pressed "clean" and I deleted all backups on my computer and other files relating to Audition (this is the only project I have done). I need help
