I've running the latest 2025 version o Audition.
I'm on Windows 10
I have a USB mic - nothing fancy,
Under Windows Sound Settings - Under the Recording Tab I can see my mic, It's active, When I make noise the green bars move.
When I open Audacity (free audio software) I can record my voice, I can see feedback, it's working.
But In Audition it's not working.
I've checked Audio Hardware Input - it's set to my mic
I've checked Audio Channel mapping and it's mapped to my Mic.
I've rebooted my PC many times, but nothing it working.
I've made this little video showing what i've tried. https://screenrec.com/share/8Y9cVBPzqX
Can anyone help?

It doesn't work because you haven't selected the mic as an input to the track, nor enable the track for recording! Audition isn't Mickey Mouse software like Audacity - you have a lot of flexibility in the input and monitoring arrangements, and without setting them correctly, you'll get no results. So it's the track settings that you need to be looking at now, not Preferences. Here's a bit of a clue:

Even when I have it selected it doesn't work. I did have this selected before taking the video.
However, When I'm using a none multitrack setting it does work.
So only when I have the multitrack option it's not working.
Is there a different setting I'm missing?

I figured it out.
Not only do you need to click the big record button. But you need to click the little R button in the channel of the host.

Like I said, you hadn't enabled the track for recording. 🙂
