Mono tracks to Stereo track

Hello, guys, I'm a new user trying to mix a song.

I have a bunch of tracks L and R. For example: guitarL.wav and guitarR.wav. These tracks were recorded in stereo but they came to me split in two mono files. I'm trying to put them in only one stereo track and I can't. How do I do that? Thanks.

I'm using the latest version of Audition.

I'm sure there is a way to do it in Audition but I generally just use this app to do it externally

If you don't want to use Cleaver (although why not?) then the way to do it in Audition is to load both tracks into Waveform view, open the first one and use Edit>Convert Sample Type to convert it into a stereo track with the existing material on whichever channel it is (you get to select what happens in the pop-up window). Now you open the second track and copy it to the clipboard. Go back to your newly-created stereo track and using the buttons on the RHS of the waveform, turn off the track that's already there (it will go grey) and paste the clipboard into the other track. Then turn back on the first one, and you're done. It's sample-accurate and almost takes more time to describe than it does to do.

 

But hey, why not use Cleaver?
