.MP4 files won't play audio

I have a bunch of videos that I downloaded via dropbox that I need to edit the audio to but when I import them to Audition, no sound will play. I can see the video playing in the bottom left and the levels going up and down but no sound will come through my speakers nor headphones. How do I solve this?

If Audition plays other files normally, then it's going to be something about the file itself. Without an example, it won't be possible to tell though. One thing you should note though is that if you alter the sound in Audition, you won't be able to write it back to the file directly - you'll have to export it via Media Encoder.

How could I give you an example so I can figure this out? I've continued to try troubleshooting but can't fix it and I need to produce these podcasts for a client of mine. If you'd be kind enough to help me I would really appreciate it.

You should be able to post one directly onto the forum, or as an alternative put it in Dropbox and post a link to it.
