Multitrack Export File Length Too Long

New Here ,

Hey all!

So I am exporting a client's voice work, and they have a 2 hour session. I am seperating each line into their own tracks, and muting the original session on the first track. When I go to do a multitrack export as a test, the voice clips I am exporting that should only be 10 seconds end up being 2 hours long.

I have checked in Mixdown Options that Master is unchecked, and only the tracks I want to export are selected. I know there is nothing else on the timeline of these individual tracks, as I am seperating and dragging the voice clips to different tracks. Not copying/pasting. Yet each time I am getting 10 seconds of dialogue, followed by 2 hours of silence. I only started experiencing this problem when I switched for CS6 to the recent version of CC, and am not sure what else to do. Thank you in advance for your help.

I can't say that I'm that surprised - the session is two hours long, and you've made no limited time selection for your export. Fortunately the solution is gloriously simple: Highlight just the time selection you want, and go to Multitrack>Mixdown Selection to a New File>Time Selection and you will get an export of just that selection.

Thanks for answering so quickly.

It never did that on CS6. If Track 1 was 60 seconds and Track 2 was 10 seconds, when I would do a mixdown the lengths were always 60 seconds and 10 seconds respectively. Now it seems if Track 1 is 60 seconds, and Track 2 is 10 seconds, both tracks will export as 60 seconds regardless. That seems a bit odd, and I'm not sure if something changed when I upgraded. That's why this is so confusing to me on CC, because I think I'm doing something wrong.

The method you suggested, though, kind of defeats the purpose of doing a multitrack export. That would mean I would have to do that for every single line of dialogue, and there are way too many to do it that way. Is there no other way to to a batch export and keep every Track its respective length?
