New PC doesn’t like my Audition 1.5. Help

So I know 1.5 is close to 20 years old but I love it. My new Dell xps8930 runs the program better in Compatibility mode but my problem is getting it to recognize a CD.  It's unable to extract tracks from a CD or open them. I'm wondering if it's a sound card issue?  The new Dell uses RealTek.  Would a different card help?  A usb card?  Has anyone experienced this?

Don't know what's causing this but one thing's for sure - it has nothing whatsoever to do with your sound card.

I also loaded Audition 2.0 on the same PC and it won’t open CD audio either. A warn window told me the existing sound card was incompatible with the software and recording wasn’t possible. So, I based my hunch off that.
