Here's a blast from the past.
My setup: Windows 10, 32GB RAM, Kabylake 4.5GHz, Mackie 400F audio interface (firewire).
The 400f works as expected in Windows. ie. I can select outputs 1/2 and play audio from the PC through the interface. And it appears on the 400f Control Room outputs.
In the past (like 5 or 6 years ago) I was able to get audio out of the 400f via Audition.
Its been a while, so I was setting it all up again.
However in Audition, I now can not get any audio out of the 400f.
The sample rate of the Multitrack session and the 400f are the same. 48000Hz.
I have Audition set to ASIO, and have selected the 400f in there.
In the Mix channel in Audition, I have tried Default, Default Output, [01S] Analog Output 1.
None of these produce sound from the Control Room outputs, or the headphones out.
Its very odd...
I'm hoiping someone out there has this interface working, or maybe some things I could try.
Thanks,
Norman

Small update. I downloaded the free version of Waveform from the Traction website. And it worked perfectly.
Got audio output instantly from the expected channels, using ASIO settings.

In the spirit of troubleshooting, I tried the WASAPI option.
And that does playback correctly.
HOWEVER, I cannot select exclusive mode without it erroring.
And then:
All the Onyx 400f outputs and inputs in Windows Sound Control Panel are set to allow exclusive access.
The obvious conclusion is that something else is taking exclusive control.
But i have no idea what.
Is there some tool we can use to see what is accessing an audio device?
