So basally, whenever im recording, i have some audio before the podcast starts. Im still new to podcasting and Audition so this may be a minor fix. Whenever I record something with the music (which is around -12db) and then play it back, on the track I record sound from, is the music at around -3db. I need help. Here is a video that shows what the problem is February 9, 2018 - YouTube *I do have a mic (the sc-550x), but it is unplugged so you can hear the volume*

I think that you must have a problem with how the Tascam interface is set up. Audition only records what it gets sent by the audio interface. So what you are experiencing isn't down to Audition. The Tascam seems to be a very complex unit with plenty of places to get settings wrong. From a quick look at the manual the are two possible points to look at. One is the 'On Air' button that seems to route the playback signal from the computer back to the output when on. Also have a look at the Computer level fader in the Expert mode. so I think that you may need to contact Tascam Support or ask on a Tascam forum.

What audio interface are you using to record the podcast with? Where do you plug your mic into? What is happening is that what ever you are recording seems to have a mix of what you are playing back fed into that track as well as your mic. When this happens is your mic also getting recorded on top of the music? If you Mute the music track and then try to record on track 1 does it then record your mic OK?

I have it plugged into a tascam ministudio(https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/US32?gclid=CjwKCAiAqvXTBRBuEiwAE54dcEfUrcUgb8nSLMiJGr8HZQIjVpkAOe1e7e6-pxj6Hj_up… ?. My mic still gets recorded, but its as loud as -16db as set. It does stop if I try to mute it.
