Playback of original sound is much slower than the live sound. Help!

Hello,

I recorded the latest episode of my podcast as normal with audition but now I've come to go back and edit it both my guest and me sound like we're walking through treacle. We're speaking much slower than what we sound like normally. Can anyone offer any advice as to why this has happened and how to fix it? The episode was due to air on July 1 so I'm behind by a couple of days. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

It sounds like you might be experiencing an issue with mismatched sample rates between your audio file and your hardware. When the sample rates don't match, playback speed can be affected.

To try and fix this, go to Settings > Audio Hardware and tick Attempt to force hardware to document sample rate.

Thanks for the response. I've tried the above but we're still sounding like sludge unfortunately. After making the change you suggested, I went and played a previous file and that now also sounds much slower, but when I untick the "force hardware" box the previous file returns to the normal speed. I've attached a screenshot of what I've got currently.

Anything else I can try? I've been using Audition for several years and do a monthly podcast and have never come across this issue before and nothing about my set up has changed to my knowledge.

How does the file sound outside of Audition?

I recorded the interview in Adobe Audition so wasn't sure. However, after getting your message I mixed down the two tracks and then re-opened the recording and it sounds normal! Thanks so much for giving me the idea. Not sure what happened with the original recording but glad to figure out a solution. Thanks!!
