preview a file (drum sample/loop) before importing

Hi,

Does Audition have a function where I can look up a sample on my computer and listen to the sample/loop prior to importing the file into my mix session?  I can't seem to be able to figure out if it does have this functionality.    I've used other software platforms that did have this functionality and it was very useful.

Thanks,

Ian

You can do this when files have been imported into the Files panel - there's a play button at the bottom, and that will also let you loop-play. So you can preview them in that before dropping them onto a track, yes.

Hi SteveG,

Thanks.   Wondering....is there a way that I don't have to import the files before being able to preview?   Only asking as this type of 'preview function' is available through Cubase.  One of the features that I miss.  I love Audition, but this one feature was very useful.

Audition 3 used to be able to do this, but that was because the file browser was actually part of the software itself. Since the CC releases, that facility hasn't been there, as the file handler is now Microsoft's or Apple's.
