Problem with Audition Automation Keyframes - Action not Matched to KeyFrames

In an Audition multitrack session, there are a number of tracks that I want to control through keyframes.  In particular, I want to move the Rack Mix from Dry-->Wet-->Dry again over about a 3 to 4 second period.  On the rack is a single effect - FFT Filter - set to take out majority of the highs and mids (think underwater kind of sound).

The keyframes are lined up to where they need to be. Scrubbing manullay through shows the Rack Mix slider moving as it should - from dry, to wet, to dry.

However, when playing the session, the acctions happen about 1 to 2 seconds earlier - before the playhead has even hit the keyframe.  Furthermore - when I step through using the arrow keys - the rack mix jumps all over the place (100, 0, 86, 0, 4, 86, 100....etc).

Initially I manually created the keyframes, clicking and dragging, then I started again and created using the 'Write' method that copies the input that I make - problem occurs both times.

I have tried this on both a bus, the track itself, and on the master channel - problem occurs all times.

I have tried this in Audition 19 as I am using PPro 19 and need Dynamic Link, and also in Audition 20 with Dynamic Link turned off - problem occurs in both.

It feels like this is too common a usage scenario to be a bug as there seem to be very few similar report that I can find - so not sure if I am missing something stupid here...but I've spent a couple hours trying to solve this, to no avail.

If it helps, I can make a quick screengrab to show the problem 'live'.

Does sound a bit odd, I must admit. I can think of a few precautionary things to try, but I don't seriously think they'll affect this, somehow, and they should have all been trapped out anyway. First, lock the track in place. Secondly, make sure that stretching is turned off. Thirdly (and this might turn out to be the interesing one) try pre-rendering the track and see if it works correctly then. If all that fails, report back.

Thanks for the suggestions Steve. Tried all three.  But as you guessed - no effect. Exactly the same strange behaviour.  Scrubbing is 100% correct, but stepping through with the arrow keys, or playing the session normally, cause very weird behaviour.

I have also tried doing this via clip effects and track effects, both with the same outcome.

I also tried to replicate it in a completely new session - and got the same effect.  One thing I found, using KeyFrames to control Volume seems to work just fine - so maybe it's a bug localised to keyframming the rack mix - but I'd find it surprising that it hadn't been spotted before as it doesn't feel like that much of an unsual thing to want to do.

Not sure if you have the time, but maybe you can try and replicate the same behaviour?

Also - as this doesn't look like an easy thing to solve - any tips on achieving the same effect in a different manner? Basically, turning an preset effect (in this case an FFT Filter) gradually on and off during playback...

I have found the same bug in Audition 2023. I solve this by linking it to directly the final mixbus, rather than preliminary buses.

This is linked to another problem which is that the metering in plugins of source channels is AHEAD of audio clips by by 1-2 seconds...
