Remove phrase or waveform

Relating to Adobe Audition, if you have a piece of audio that has a voice talking, is there a way to remove a specific phrase? Or even a shape of a waveform? In a piece of audio, I would like to remove a distinct phase. I would also like to add a marker there if possible. I have been doing this manually. I simply can notice the waveform. However, I wondered if there is an easier way? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

The usual way to do this is to highlight the particular phrase, and hit the 'delete' key! When you've done it, hit f8 and a marker will be placed at the spot.
