Rode Mic not working in Audition but works perfectly in Windows 10 Voice recorder

Incredibly frustrating problem. The Rode microphone I'd like to use works perfectly in the Microsoft in built voice recorder but not in Audition. Checked preferences etc but nothing works that I can see. Is this yet another argument between Adobe and another tech company?

No, it isn't any sort of argument at all. What we need here is plenty more information, otherwise we simply can't help you. What mic is it, and how is it connected to Audition? Is it via an ASIO driver or using MME? How does it register in Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware? And are you trying to use it in Multitrack or Waveform view? If it's Multitrack then there are other steps you have to take before it will record on any given track anyway.

Additional note: if I create a new recording but just an "Audio File..." Audition does recognise the microphone. But not in a new Multi Track recording.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for the information.  Although in windows Rode Al-1 (my interface) is selceted for input and output as well as in Audition.  In audition when I click on record nothing happens, not even the clock will start.  When I unplug the Mic Rode NT1 and the Rode interface then select the laptop mic I can record just fine.  In wave or multi.  I shared screens with a tech from audition last night and he could not trouble shoot this issue.

Would you happen to have any experiance with this issue?

All I can tell you is that if the internal mic records, then you have a system setting that is in error - as I mentioned above. You can't just plug in an external mic and expect it to work - you have to change the input source, and check all of the settings in the Sound Settings panel. If you don't get this correct, then it definitely won't record from an external source.
