Saved recordings disappeared!

Hi all,

Today I've recorded quite a lot of stuff in a multitrack session. I've clicked "Save" from time to time and even before I close the application for sure.

However, when i open it again, most of the recordings went missing! and I can't even find them in my source folder!

What I've done different this time then before is that I've changed the names of the recordings, but all of them are lost!

Only those which haven't changed the names are here.

I'm using Scarlett Studio 2i2 for the interface.

Is there any method i can get my recordings back??

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the detailed reply!

Before I started recording it did crash once. When I re-open the file, I clicked "continue" when the options popped up.

The file name "Track 2_007.wav" is the name Audition gave it.

    I am now using CS6 version 5.0.

So anything I can do next time to prevent this from happening again?

If it crashes and you open Audition again after and select 'Continue' shut down Audition and re-open. Hopefully that will reset Audition to record any new audio into the session record folder rather than into it's temp crash recovery folder. Just to make sure, when you stop recording, that the file path given in Properties is the correct one before proceeding.

For more information, I have tried using Recuva to recover my files. I have found rest of the files which names haven't been changed (both wav and pkf). However, I still cannot locate the files that I've changed the name. I only managed to find their pkf but not the wav.

Where did you change the names of the files? From within Audition or outside in your operating system? It is unlikely that they are completely lost but in renaming them they may have changed location. Can you give us an example of the names of one of the files before and after the change.

If you make a copy of your session .sesx file and rename only the copy to .xml instead of .sesx then it should open in your internet browser. You can then take a look at the section near the end called <files>. It should tell you where and what files Audition thinks it needs to open for the session.

    Thank you for the reply!

I changed the name within Audition, in the "Properties" area. Please find the following photo for your reference.

I've tried the method as you suggested. It suggests that the files are in this location "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\5.0\25af51b6-cc36-449f-a09f-80def316b67e\25af51b6-cc36-449f-a09f-80def316b67e_Recorded\Track 2_007.wav"

However, it seems that the file with a long string of number doesn't exist and I cannot find the audio files even I search the "Audition\5.0" file.

Can you please help? Thanks a lot!
