Strange audio dropouts

Hi
I recorded six mics into Audition via a Behringer XR18 onto an external SSD the other day and had these strange regular dropouts occur all the way through.sound dropouts.jpg
They don't look like normal dropouts to me, more like very short delays.
I haven't been able to reproduce the effect since.
Anybody got any ideas?

Yes they look a bit like delays. When you say 'recorded', what exactly was/is the signal chain?

Hi Steve
I had six mics, five cabled and one wireless into a XR18 mixer. individual channels USB into a laptop running Audition as a DAW, USB into an external SSD. That's all.
They all had the same effect on them. I've used the exact set-up several times with no probems and tried it out again today, again with no problems. My best guess is some kind of USB error.
