Synth input to audition

Hey!

I have tried to set the audition audio preferences to include my synth so i can play directly into the audition app, however, while the synth is recognised on my computer, its not coming up as an input option on adobe audition, 

is the novation Mininova just not compatiable with adobe audition?

What you need is the previous version (Ultranova)! That was the one that had effectively got a USB interface in it, but all this was pared down for the Mininova. And Audition doesn't handle MIDI anyway, so your only real option to record it is to use an external USB sound device, and feed the Mini's audio outputs into it, I'm afraid. I believe that the USB port that's there only handles MIDI data, not audio, but just to be sure of that, you should check and see if it's available in one of the other device classes in Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware.

Is there a way of setting it up so i can use my laptop with adobe audition as a DAW so I can record the sound?

Only if you have a line input available on it (the synth produces much higher signal levels than a mic input would stand), and the quality won't be that great. The usual approach to this is to use an external sound device with line inputs as well as mic inputs.
