There was a problem saving the metadata.

I am encountering an error message in the latest version of Adobe Audition. There aren't actually any problems. Everything works fine, but this error message keeps appearing. I can't find any information about this error message online.

I have Windows 10 fully updated as of this time, and the latest version of Adobe Audition build 13.0.11.38. I'm using a Focuscrite Scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface, and its software and drivers also fully updated.

To reproduce the error I take the following steps:

  1. Set the audio hardware device to Focusrite USB ASIO. Buffer size 256, sample rate 48k.
  2. Create a new multi-track session
  3. Assign the input on track 1 to mono input [01M] or [02M].
  4. Press R on Track 1 so I can record to track 1.
  5. Press the red record button.
  6. Record audio for awhile. I'm not sure exactly how long the recording has to be to get the error, but the error does not appear on short recordings.
  7. Press stop to stop the recording.

As soon as I press stop to stop recording, the following error message appears on top of track 1.

"There was a problem saving the metadata." Here is a screenshot of just the error message.

If I press OK, the error goes away. There don't actually appear to be any problems with the recording. Everything is working fine. This error message just appears once when I stop recording, and that's it. Please let me know if there is a way to fix this. Thanks.

In Edit>Preferences>Metadata, do you have a check in 'Include markers and metadata by default on Save As/Export' box? Also, do you have a check in the 'Include markers and other metadata' box?

This has nothing to do with drivers, the OS or anything else. When you stop recording in Multitrack (which is direct to file) then the metadata needs to be written at that point, so there's a good chance that accidentally, you may have inhibited it.

This is a really annoying message.  I don't care about metadata for what I'm doing, so not saving it is not important (assuming that the error message actually means something).  I'm recording a number of short tracks, and having to click on this every time slows everything down.

Apreche posted this three months ago yet there has been no reply.  Are we the only two people who are trying to deal with this?

Cheers!

Thanks @9740111

Just to confirm. The problem still persists today even though I continue to keep all my OS, drivers, and software fully updated to the latest versions.
