Trouble saving a multitrack session

New Here ,

I'm sure there's a quick fix to to this but it is driving me crazy. Every time I save a session, audition automatically exports all the files used in the session. So every time I save I end up with a new folder called "imported files" with a copy of all the original files. Is there a way to stop this?

This shouldn't happen when you just Save a Session. The only time Audition normally does this if you Export a Session and you have ticked the 'Save copies of associated files' option box in the Export/Session pane.

On Sae there's also the "One or more of the media files use in this session are located outside the session folder.  Would you like to copy these files to the Session Folder" warning that pops up but, as far as I can see the only option is "don't show this again".  There's no "do this every time" as far as I know.

I've used other versions of audition and it's never done this before. Maybe there's a box somewhere that is checked that shouldn't be. So what I just tried was exporting the session instead of saving it. (not really sure what the difference between saving and exporting is but whatever) I made sure the "Save copies of associated files" box is unchecked. It works but then I made a few changes to the session, and tried to save it. At that point it started making copies of everything again.
