Question

Using Manual Pitch correction causes pops and distortion

Howdy

Working with an audiobook on an iMac with Audition CC2019, and attempting to adjust one character's voice to be slightly deeper/lower in places.  I have been using the Manual Pitch Correction tool with keyframe adjustments and lowering the voice by 80db, which sounds perfect.  BUT -- as I go back through the track once I have made my changes, I am finding a distressing number of pops and some weird distortion on certain words, and have had to go back to square one, remove the pitch adjustments in those places, or use Auto Heal Selection, and that seems to be fixing the problem.  But why does Pitch Adjustment cause these artifacts in the first place?  Is there a guideline to using this feature that will help me reduce the workload?

Thanks!

Rob

Just to be clear do you mean you are reducing the voice by 80Hz, 80% or even 80 cents? Certainly not 80dB I would have thought.

Oops.  I mean, 80 cents.  I drop the pitch 80 cents.
