Waveform but no sound?

New Here ,

Help! Editing VO in Audition. The audio wave form is showing up, but audio won't play. I can't export the sound, can't copy the sound, can't do anything with it. There is only a small snippet of the 26minutes that plays. Anything I should be looking for? Screen shots attached. Screenshot 2021-11-29 134544.jpgScreenshot 2021-11-29 134644.jpg

Go to Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware and reconnect your sound device...

I recorded a gig my band did recently. I processed the first 13 songs (.wav files) with no problem. My workflow is to delete the songs I've processed off of the master file. But now for the rest of the master file, I see the waveform. But no sound. If I reopen the last song I processed, everything works fine. I tried Windows native player, no sound. Uploaded the file to Dropbox so I could play it on one of my Apple devices, still no sound. But the waveform shows up in audition and the file size is what I'd expect (about 650mbs). So the data appears to be there, but no sound. Did I inadvertanly make a change to the file itself?

Exact same issue here. I lost at least 3 days of work.
I'd appreciate if anyone has a solution for this

Did anyone ever figure this out? Having the same problem, Adobe told me I was running out of cache space and to save and restart so I did. And now all my edited audio files have this problem - they show up as wave forms, complete with file size, but won't play sound. On any device or app.

hello!

i know this is quite old thread but i figured something out!
and it's bizarre!

i had this exact same problem, on the track the waveform is visible, meters are showing signal is healthy etc but no sound. audio is mono and so what i did was adjust the Panning to even just -5 or 5 and then there was sound! it's really bizarre i have no idea why this happened but that's the fix that worked. i had an entire timeline of files suffering from this and i have no idea why, but now that i tried this, the audio is back on. let me know if this works i'd love to keep track of this.
