Windows 10 + Audition CC - cannot record What U Hear

I'm not sure when this stopped working - whether it was a Windows update or an Adobe update, but I can no long record "What U Hear" from my Creative sound card. I've tried every permutation I can with the Audition settings but no luck. This used to work not so long ago. Any ideas?

Whatever is causing this, it's not Audition I'm afraid - Audition only records what it's sent from your sound device. There have been progressive 'updates' from Microsoft that all attempt to make this form of recording harder to do - they've been pressurised by the RIAA to do so, as they think that everybody who does it is infringing copyright laws.

There's also a chance that Creative have changed something about the sound device driver to make this impossible, although I'm not aware that they've ever done this before. Not impossible, though.

If you have an internal device available, and you go to the Windows Control Panel and click on 'sound', you should get a panel with four tabs on it. One of these says 'recording'. Is there an option saying stereo mix? If there is, and it's disabled, then highlight it and click on 'properties' and in 'device usage' you can re-enable it. You might get the facility back then, but there are no guarantees...
