Hey I have never had this problem before with all earlier versions of Adobe Audition. I just bought CS5.5 and tried to load the Waves plug ins I always use and they do not all load into the program. Some do load in, but unfortunatly not the ones I use most often. Any Ideas?

Please list which specific ones do load, and which specific ones don't load. Do you get an error message or something?

MaxxVolume stereo, SSLChannel stereo, SSLComp Stereo, SSLEQ Stereo, Tune Stereo, VComp Stereo, VEQ3 Stereo, VEQ4 Stereo, Z-Noise Stereo...those all load up but none of them work. When I scan for plugins most of the time a pop-up will come up saying it can't find any Waves plug-ins or Adobe will freeze and shut down and I have to reload it and try again Could not find any Waves Plug-ins. Please install Waves Plug-ins in order to use Waveshell...I'll press ok and it'll load up one or two but then that pop-up will keep coming up and eventually adobe will freeze and shut down. Tell em we've reinstalled it a few times to different folders and we've had this issue with Adobe 1 and 3.0 but after going through these same processes it would eventually load everything and it'd all work, but it's not working for cs5.5

Sorry, we'll also need version numbers of the Waves plug-ins (e.g. 5.0, 5.5, etc), because there are a number of versions of those plugs that are (for a lack of a better word) unstable. It may be easiest to give us a screenshot of the folder you're trying to scan as that can show the full names of the .dll files.

Tell who?
Also, did you get your issue resolved from this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3962860#3962860?

oh just ignore that tell em, I am asking this qustion for someone else in my band and I just copied and pasted what he said and didn't read it and realize he was expecting me to put it in my own words.
You can find the screen shot at https://www.yousendit.com/download/ T2dlZEU5Q1JvQnRESjhUQw
For some reason he sent it to me as a pdf.
It is Waves Mercury bundle v5.x and it ussually freezes when its scanning through wavesshells vst 5, 5.1, 5.2... if it even makes it that far

Don't put any plug-in in the Audition program folder (Program Files/Audition CS5.5/Plugins). If there are WavesShells DLL's in there delete them. Do not put anything in that folder that the Adobe installer didn't put there.
Press the "Default" button in the Plug-in Manager, it will reset the scanned folder to only scan the proper plug-in folder according to your Windows registry.
Try scanning again with "Rescan Existing Plug-ins" checked, this will rescan everything.
If that still doesn't work, uninstall all the Waves plug-ins (and delete any WaveShell DLL's that you have moved), and then reinstall all the Waves plug-ins from their original installers and let Audition scan the default folders again.

Just to follow up Matt's message ('cos I'm not sure he's suggested where to put those .dll files he's had you move or remove etc).
On my system I have in Program Files a directory called "Adobe". It contains sub-folders "Audition 3", "Audition CS5.5" and "Adobe Reader". I have all my non-Adobe VSTs and VSTis in dedicated folders within that "Adobe" folder but outside the Audition folders. With this arrangement all the VSTs are seen without problem by 3.0.1 and CS5.5, though I don't have any WAVES plugs. (Clearly, I do have to tell AA where to find those "extra" plug-ins).

In general, I'd always suggest putting them where the installer from Waves wants to put them by default. What was shown in their screenshot pdf was somone manually copied some of the .dll files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition\CS5.5\Plug-Ins\

Fair comment Charles VW.
I don't know about the Waves installer but, in my experience, most VSTs etc appear to install by default into a "Steinberg" folder. Clearly, the assumption is that anyone using VSTs will have Cubase or Nuendo or similar installed.
In my case I don't have any Steinberg app installed; hence my creation of a particular install location for my set up, which works in the two AA installations and also in Reaper.

Listen to Charles.
Lets the VST's install where they want to, rarely will you have to manually copy effect DLL's around. There is even less reason to do so now with Audition CS5.5.
The Steinberg folder is put there because they developed VST and got naming rights. It is the de-facto location for 3rd party effects (depending on which DAW you use, Sonar creates their own folder and modifies the Registry to then use that folder). Unless the plug-in manufacture doesn't follow the registry setting, Audition should scan the correct folders.
Generally, DO NOT mess around with the Audition program files folder. And if you do, all bets are off.
Audition CS5.5 effects engine is a total from the ground up rewrite, so none of the legacy quirks that users have developed over the years as workarounds for perceived bugs in Audition 3.0 are no longer needed. Trust the default instal locations and you should be just fine.
My advice for reinstalling still stands. Waves will properly place the DLL's in the correct folders; they know what they are doing. And scanning multiple copies of the same Waves DLL (as abicamusic appears to be trying to do) is probably what is causing his problems. That is why I said the he/she should uninstall and delete, reinstall, it will most likely work if all the files are in the proper location.
