Audition inadvertedly reset to factory settings

I just opened Audition, and I found out all settings, recent files, favorites, presets, etc. have been reset to factory default by themselves.

Is there a way to recover my settings? Why did this happen?

The only way this happens is if you accidentally press the shift key whilst starting Audition. And no, sorry - there's no way back from this unless you had all the settings you made backed up somewhere.

I opened it normally, no holding shift or anything.

I don't have a backup (would be nice to know how), but there's the folder assigned to the temp files. Not sure if settings and presets are stored there.
