Convert speech to text in Audition

Is it possible to convert audio in audition to text. I need this to make complete script for my long video. Kindly help me.

No, I'm afraid that Audition doesn't do this at all - it's an audio editor. You need dedicated software to do this - something like Sonix: https://sonix.ai/

Or even Youtube now provides an automatic subtitle creation from speech option. Once scanned Youtube provides a script that can be downloaded and edited.

And, of course, any such software relies on there being clear unambiguous dialogue, one voice at a time.

+1 for Sonix. It'll even play nicely with Adobe Audition.

If you're doing this for subtitles, there's several GREAT companies which do that really affordably. I just used a company for a release. Cost $100 for over two hours of SOLID dialog. Worked great. You end up with a .srt file which integrates perfectly with youtube or other anything else.

It's never been an option in Audition, so you can't have been watching Audition doing it in any videos. You may have seen Soundbooth attempt to do it, but that was discontinued nine years ago, and it didn't work very well - which is why it was dropped.

And no, there hasn't been any Adobe software for one-time purchase since the Sarbanes/Oxley legislation stuffed up the retailing of software completely.

Thank you Steve for the information.  I'm just trying to find something for the small tasks that I will be working on over the next several months.  I'm trying to promote our small veterinary business and the doctors don't want to type.  So, I figured, get a digital recorder, record the doctors giving their answers to the questions, then just converting the speech to text.  Edit the text and then submit the information to the reporter.  I just wondered if Adobe had this function.

Premiere Pro prior to version 8.1 did speech to text analysis and generated metadata with the text in it for CC purposes. It was pretty good... not great... but usable with editing

So if you can get your hands on an earlier version of Premiere Pro (pre-2014, say CS6) you can use it to generate text from your audio.

Otherwise, the suggestions from others here are your best bet... or the much more laborious transcription by hand route.

I should point out that as of last year, the only versions available of any software from Adobe are the current one, and its -1 version. If you have older versions on your system you can use them, obviously, but if you haven't, there's no way you'll be able to download and install one.

Adobe have just released the option to generate subtitles for a video, so as this for video, you should be OK. However, I don't know how this would be exported tbh for a transcription.

I guess at some point, someone at Adobe is going to work out how mad it is to have released this feature for video, but not for audio, and include it in a near future release for Audition. That would be nice for podcasters looking for diacoverability.

Adobe Premiere Pro CC transcribes natively and beautifully and supports exporting to plain text. It will even distinguish between multiple speakers and label them accordingly, like a script. Just create a new project, import your audio file, and add it to the timeline to prepare. Then, from the menu select Window > Text.

Alternatively, I think someone else suggested YouTube Studio. It's free. I have used that as well, though not for exporting the text (yet). Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to do as well as Adobe.

Also, you might try Zoom. Launch a session, begin recording it, enable transcription, and play your audio file. You might have to setup transcription before you launch. And, you might also have difficulty actually recording the playing audio. But, it is another free option to work with.

Adobe products are really outdated. Neither after effects can do automatic subtitles nor audition can do speech to text. Stone age software.

I think perhaps the frustration you experience is that certain features, found in only certain applications, are not included in all related applications. After Effects is more of a specialized video tool for use in production or between production and post-production as the name implies. Most Adobe tools tend to be packed full of features already. Packing them with larger, significant features already found in other tools would be redundant and would only add to the bloat. Essentially, they would grow be too bulky, slow, and demanding of precious resources to be very useful to most users.

For a humorous break, watch the movie Shorts (2008) which exemplifies this concept as it relates to smartphones. It's also presented in a way that only video editors will be able to follow without much effort.

The furstration I experience is, that adobe bought up all good competetive products and killed them off. And without competition they are lazy and have awful business models. Millions of people are paying them every month for products. Where does all the money go to??? Adobe was never innovative and adobe programs always have been memory hogs and are bugged to no ends. The only good adobe programs were the third party software they took over and ran into the ground.

Geez I wonder why I am frustrated? "Spezialied tool"? You are apologizing for Adobe? Adobe is the center of the world for media creators. All because my fellow species is so primitive and carried this branch of designer tools into the spotlight... it really sucks designers understand so little about what is good and what isn't. So superficial, so hype controlled, such a bunch of fomos... at least it's not my fault we are in this bad of a world.
