FATAL ERROR Audition - Mac

When I try to open Audition from the Creative Cloud ap it says "Audition cannot access the preference folder. Please make sure current user has the read/write permission to the preference folder".

It is the latest ver 11.

I've done the following

1. Checked preferences. I'm there with read/write permissions.

2. Uninstall/reinstall - did it.

3. Opened a few other apps from the Creative Cloud...no problem. Just seems to be with Audition.

4. I am on a Mac.

Of course I was at the start of a recording session which I've had to cancel. This is costing me money. Not good Adobe.

Hello! This problem is happened due to an error with the permissions to edit folder inside path:

/Users/%USERNAME%/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition

There is 2 simple way:
1.  follow the dir where Audition folder is stored. Don't forget to change your username in this command bellow

cd /Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition

Change folder permissions, give full read/edit access to all users

sudo chmod 777 24.0

After that, run the audition and the problem will disappear

2. Just follow steps in instruction above

 I use Adobe Audition 24.2.0.83 on a MacBook Air 15 M2

The solution for me was actually quite simple...

  1. Go to your 'Preferences Folder' - The Preferences Folder can be accessed by going to the 'Go' menu while using the Finder, selecting 'Go To Folder' and then entering the command  ~/Library/Preferences
  2. Find the folder named 'Adobe' and open it
  3. Delete the folder named 'Audition'
  4. Try opening Audition again and it should work
  5.

It's actually funny because although it was telling me it can't access the Preferences Folder, it had quite clearly accessed it and created a folder for Audition. Anyway, once deleted everything worked fine.

Hope this helps others too!
