Inconsistent recording levels

New Here ,

Hi all!

Been here lots before, but first time posting on the community. Thank you all for your constant vigilance! 😄

I'm a voice over artist and use audition to record voice clips to send to clients. I recently upgraded from Adobe CS5.5 to CC. As soon as I did I started having issues with input levels. When playing back after recording, I'm finding that the input levels aren't uniform all the way through. The volume will suddenly get a lot louder or softer unexpectedly. To compensate, I'll have to raise or lower the volume of certain phrases, which isn't ideal. A picture of what I'm talking about is below.

Sometimes this will happen mutiple times throughout a recording which makes editing a headache.

Anyone know what might be causing this? I've tried changing drivers from standard MME to ASIO4ALL and hasn't fixed issue. Specs that I'm working with are below.

OS: Windows 10 home

Processor: i5-9400 2.90GHz

RAM: 16GB

Sys type: 64bit

Mic: AKG Perception 420

Audio interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Isn't there an ASIO driver for the Scarlett?
