Question

Is spatial audio for 360 VR no longer supported in Audition?

I will try to explain myself as clear as possible.

Before the latest update of Audition (12.1.0.182) I used to edit spatial audio files in Audition, to be used later in Premier for 360 VR video sound (ambisonics). Now the files created by my recorded (H2n) are no longer read properly and instead of being read as a 4 track file, this current version of Audition reads them as a stereo file.

Also, I tried to mixdown a multitrack file of four separate mono files into an ambisonic file but Audition only gives the option of MONO, STEREO and 5.1 files.

As I create VR videos for a living, this change is becoming not only disappointing but rather frustrating.

What am I doing wrong?

As far as I am aware nothing has changed in the latest version of Audition compared to earlier ones in this respect. What format are the files recorded onto on the H2n? Are they four channel .wav files? Audition has always only given you the options for mono, stereo or 5.1 channel Multitrack sessions. So how is Audition differing now from what it used to do? Were you opening the files into a Multitrack session or into the Waveform edit  view?

I have just checked on my system and the latest Audition v.12.1 still happily opens 4 channel audio files ( or files with as many channels as you like) in both views. So I am not sure what problem has arisen on your system. Can you post a short 4 channel file recorded on your H2n somewhere like Dropbox or Google Drive for us to download to see if it will open OK on our systems.

The H2n creates a 4 channel track with the name SPTLXXX.wav, which contains 4 mono files. With the previous version I could edit all four or individual tracks, save it as spatial audio and put it in Premier.

Now, Audition still reads all four tracks but the fourth one does not reproduce sound. And when I right click on Premier to edit in Audition, this last app opens it as an stereo file, which is not usable for 360 VR.

I will locate a short spatial audio file and give you the link, ASAP.

Thanks for the swift reply.
