Question

Keeps crashing & I lose all my progress

Hi, I'm fairly new to Audition (but I feel like I've lived a thousand lives on this software trying to edit this project).

Basically, I've spent several hours each time on trying to edit my project, and all three times, it's crashed. At first, I thought I wasn't saving correctly, and this may well be the case. Please let me know if this is the case. I am editing in multitrack, importing lots of different audio, etc and the first time I was using only the "save" button. I realized this wasn't working, so I started saving using the "save all" option. If I'm doing this wrong, please let me know (I know there's other options, like "save as bath process" and such, should I be using that?)

But the second problem is that regardless of the saving, I figured that I would just sit down today and hammer out this podcast episode in one go, working straight for a few hours. This didn't work, because at the final stretch, Adobe crashed unexpectedly. Of course, I filed a crash report, but I'm not sure if this is a problem with the software, or with my laptop.

Please help! I'm really not sure what to do and I'm very frustrated with this. I don't want to continue with my project knowing that there's a (big) possibility it'll fail again.

Thank you!

In order to try and assist, you need to provide us with your hardware specifications, audio interface you are using, Mac or PC and which version of Audition you are using (if not the latest then use that if it is try the latest beta version).
"Save' is fine as is 'Save All' - make sure you are saving to a local hard drive (preferably internal and SSD) and not USB or network drive

Thank you for your response!

I'm using a MacBook Air 2013 (it's quite old) with MacOS Catalina with a 1.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 processor. I've imported all the files, so nothing is being recorded on Audition itself. I believe I'm using the most current version of Audition-- it's the 13.0.8.43 build. I will try the beta version, and I am saving on an internal drive.

I'm experimenting with the multitrack again, saving periodically as usual, but I'll do my editing in chunks rather than all at once. I don't know if this will make a difference, but maybe it will prevent a crash from totally erasing my progress.

I'm no Mac expert (the ones I normally deal with come with a coke and fries) so I can't advise as to suitability.
It will be interesting to see how you go using the beta version but in the meantime you need to save your work regularly - I would suggest to your local hard drive and not the cloud - you can always save to the cloud later.
