Please Help!!! Audition v12 has randomly corrupted my playback on an important project

Please help. My Multitrack project from Premiere Pro was running relatively fine until I opened the project again today and my playback has become totally corrupted.

Here are my symptoms:

As soon as I hit spacebar the project lags and starts to calculate playback which takes forever then it starts to playback seamingly normal but there is only clear sound coming out, only bits of sounds. Mixer shows all normal levels. My UAD Apollo soundcard shows normal levels. If I change sample rate or buffer size there is no difference. If I change to the internal computer soundcard there is no difference. My soundcard is fine in another program. If I close my project and open a new project and import a file it plays fine. I have tried to go back to earlier backup versions of my program and they are all showing this corrupted playback. If I mute all plugins there is no difference. So it seems that something has happened to my project and I cannot get my playback to return. This iappears clearly to not be an update issue or a soundcard driver update issue - this is plain simple a corrupted project file created randomly in Audition.

Throughout this current project I have also had other strange issues where my stereo mixdown has introduced wierd delay artefacts to some tracks and I have had to re-bounce the master bus a 2nd or 3rd time to create a mixdown free of errors.

What's the story with Adobe Audition? It's buggy as hell. Logic Audio does not give me this level of grief. Any experts want to help please since I pay Adobe a lot every year to be using this product.

Have you tried saving as a new project, closing Audition down, and then manually deleting all the cache files (you can find their locations from Edit>Preferences>Media & Disk cache).  It would force Audition to re-analyse everything in your project.  Also, how much memory have you allocated to Audition?

Do the audio files playback OK individually in the Waveform view? Try increasing the buffer size in Audition's Audio Hardware Prefs if you can assuming that you are using ASIO drivers. Where are the audio files stored, internal or external hard drive etc.? Also need to know a bit more about your Audition session. How many tracks and what effects have you added to them?

Thanks for the quick reply and support. Yes individual files playback ok on

waveform view which made me realise a plugin had gone wierd when I disabled

all effects and opened each one by one. Thanks again for the diagnosing
