Recorded Audio is Glitchy/Choppy

I have never had an issue recording in Audition, however, when I opened a project the other day and tried to lay down a new recording, it was (as best as I can describe it) very glitchy and choppy (listen here). I searched around and tried to make some modifications and setting chages, but nothing is working. I've only had Audition open when recording, reduced the buffer size, etc. Would really appreciate any insights to correct this issue, as I'm dead in the water right now.

Equipment

Macbook (OS 10.15.4)

Yeti Stereo USB Mic

Settings

Buffer size: 1024 (have reduced to no effect)

Sample Rate: 48000

I would suggest looking at the audio interface settings on the Mac (I can't help you there as most Macs I come in contact with come with a coke & fries).

It just seems to me that the mic is picking up and replaying what it is recording - how are you monitoring what you are recording?

Potentially all a moot point. I rebooted everything and seem to be back on track. But for posterity:

I've monitored with headphones straight from the mic, or plugged into the computer and used the defauly output. Through those means, it sounds great while speaking. Upon playback, not so good.

Thank you for the audio interface keywords. I searched a bit more, believe I have everything squared away.

Thank you for the assistance. Truly appreciate your time.

It almost sounds like the microphone is recording two sources with one slightly delayed

How would I verify that or attempt to solve for it?

The first thing I would try is increasing the audio buffer size, not reducing it.

Thank you. I've bumped the buffer size all the way up with the same results.
