Short holes in a voice record

Hi,

I'm just coming back from the recording of an interview and I discovered a problem on my sound track.

All the file long, I've got some sorts of holes every 10 or 15 seconds. They are very short, around 40ms, but it's audible.

I've tried to fix that with the spot healing brush but that don't really smooth the signal or plug the holes.

I don't know how to fix it, but I've got the exactly same record with an other microphone (in a lower quality but without the holes problem). I hope that, maybe, there is a solution to repair a signal, bases on a similar other one... ?

    Unfortunately you are fairly unlikely to be able to repair gaps in the audio of that sort of size or number. The only way might be to try to fill the gaps with a snippets of audio from the second recording. But it would be extremely time consuming and would still probably sound bad. The only way really is to try and massage your poorer recording to make it useable if there is no way to repeat the recording.

    How and on what were the two recordings made and what media were they recorded to? 40ms are sizable gaps about 1,764 samples long if recording at 44.1k.

    Looking at the waveforms, I'd say that you have an electrical failure somewhere in your recording chain - the actual recording itself is continuous (the noise continues through the break). How exactly did you make the recording? If you don't sort this out, it's likely to happen again...

    I used a wireless ew 122-p G3 clip-on microphone plugged on a Zoom H6, like many other times. The problem wasn't on the wireless connexion because there was nothing wrong on my headphone during the reccording. It's probably something with the Zoom H6...
