Bridge 16.0 crashes when accessing Download folder from Favorites menu

Bridge keeps crashing when I click on Downloads in the Favorites window (it does briefly begin populating the files from the Downloads folder). I can right click on Downloads and Reveal Folder works fine, opens the Download folder window and can see/open my files.

To see if other folders worked, I clicked on Documents in the Favorites window, opens fine, and I can open my files from here and does not crash.

I thought maybe I needed to reconnect the Downloads in Favorites, so I Removed the Downloads folder from the Favorites window, then went to the Folders tab > Computer > Macintosh HD > Users > MeTheUser > Downloads > Add to Favorites. Went back to Favorites > Downloads and it still shuts down.

I also opened the Downloads folder from the Folders tab, going the path in the previous paragraph - still, briefly populates Bridge with images, then Bridge crashes.

And lastly, I added a folder that's inside the Downloads folder as a Favorite. This folder opens properly when accessing it via Favorites and does not crash.

I did a Reset preferences, reset the default workspace, and purge the cache, and retried all the steps above, still no luck in solving this problem.

Any ideas???

Thanks for the info.

After following your instructions, turns out there were some JavaScript files the Brave Browser had added for some unknown reason. Once those were deleted, Bridge does not crash when opening the Downloads folder and I can click on a PSD, PDF or JPG file to open.

Will keep my eyes open for errant JavaScript files in the future!

Much appreciated!

Hi @teresaw92373786 ,

Thank you for your feedback.

This issue may be caused by a specific file in your Downloads folder that’s triggering the crash.
Please move all files from the Downloads folder into a new subfolder within it, then check if the problem still occurs.

If moving the files resolves the issue, we’d appreciate your help in investigating further.
To identify the problematic file, please copy a few files at a time from the subfolder back into the Downloads folder and check after each step. This will help us determine which file is causing the crash.

Once we identify the file, could you please share that file (or files) with us at sharewithbr@adobe.com?

This will help us reproduce and fix the issue on our end.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Thanks,
Bridge Team
