Bridge 2022 thumbnail generation super slow on Mac mini M1

Community Beginner ,
Nov 28, 2021 Nov 28, 2021

Somehow Bridge generates the thumbnails extremely slow on my Mac Mini M1. Labeling of metadata is also extreme slow. What's going on? I've bought this Mac to support large batches of photo processing but I'd rather go back to my old Macbook Air. Someone knows what to do about this?

Thank you!

Karlijn

Hi All,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.
Please try updating to ACR 14.3 release, that should fix the issue.

Let us know if you still face the same.

Thanks,

Bridge Team

Hello, this ACR update particularly targets files with a peculiar profile, is it the case for you?

Bridge still needs to be rewritten and recompiled to take advantage of the new M1 processors, but the team might have a reason to delay the code conversion.

Well it’s been delayed for nearly 2 years now. What’s the hold up?

Just curious why Adobe has NOT fixed this issue, since it is obvious a major problem for most that use Bridge.  Also, this has been an issue for YEARS, not just this most recent release.

I solved this slow thumbnail building problem by removing all metadata from the images. After removing all metadata informations, Adobe Bridge was creating thumbnails nearly instantly from an external HDD (but of course the metadata is gone now). Still trying to find out which information in the metadata causing this behaviour.

Hope this helps someone.

Hello, you should maybe try the native Apple silicon support in the latest Bridge Beta: https://community.adobe.com/t5/bridge-discussions/an-update-for-the-adobe-bridge-beta-is-now-availab...

Hello, @Karlijn Karthaus Bridge 13.0.1 offers native M1 suppport, you should upgrade to that version, but be informed that while it supports a modern UI with multiple content tabs, it has for the moment lost the multiple windows feature. It might be wise to keep a copy of V12 if you need that feature.
