A new problem has appeared recently. When I download files from Nikon d850 using Bridge, it creates a duplicate file. For example I have 40 files on the camera but when I download them there are 80 files in Bridge, every other one is a duplicate. They all are .nef files. Any suggestions.
Thanks Ray
This is a known bug with this release. At this point you can either use the Photo Downloader and delete the duplicate files or wait for the bug to be fixed.
Sorry

I tried deleting the 'duplicate' but this resulted in the original on disk being deleted!
Fortunately, I only did this with one image so didn't lose anything important.

Indeed, I also found the same problem, so I do not know how to deal with duplicates?
If deleting the duplicate means deleting the original, what is the solution ? "Learn to live with two files instead of one" 😉

I am also getting similar problems where Bridge sees files from an external NAS and shows duplicates or sometimes only shows fewer files than is actually in the folder. Doing a refresh only makes matters worse as it randomly makes different files in the app but not on the hard drive.
This is completely screwing up it's intended use as a DAM and I am looking seriously at another app called Apolloone. Although this is a paid app it seems to do the job of reporting, sorting, tagging etc. pretty well, the only problem at present is not being able to catalogue in collections as per Bridge and Lightroom.
I would prefer to pay a one-off fee for Bridge and have it developed properly than a 'freebie' that doesn't work well.

I'm hearing your frustration Ray as this is happening to me with my Nikon exactly as you say. I like Gary's answer as it puts my mind at rest known I'm not doing something silly with the photo downloader part of the process which I have been doing for years so it makes sense to what Gary says.
Regards, MM.

Who tests these updates before they release it to paying customers? Why are we the Beta-Testers?

Do check with the latest update available for Bridge. Loop back if things are working for you.

I have the latest Bridge on Win 11 and the problem persists. Only with Canon RAW and not Sony RAW...

Looks good... did a small download test off Canon R6 and only one set, and no sub folders...
Perfect 🙂

This is a huge PIA especially when you've shot a lot of photos.

My nikon d5500 is ok, but my new canon eosrp is doing this, a real pain when both raw and jps are duplicated.

Checking to see if this bug has yet been fixed. I'm spending a lot of extra time having to delete duplicates ....

I did a recent PS update thinking that might contain the "fix" but it didn't. I have a Macbook I use on location & it has the previous Bridge version so I download new shoots with the Macbook to a portable drive & move them to the big Mac. It sucks but the D850 RAW files take a lots of time to trash.

Still sitting with the same issue. Latest update and working with Canon .CR3 files. No realistic workaround when you have 3000 photos to sort that suddenly change into 6000. Adobe, quite frankly, this is unacceptable! We pay premium prices to have our products work when we need them!

Adobe is working on a fix. No, I can't tell you when it will be released. I personally recommend against using the Photo Downloader regardless.

It's been my experience on my Mac (using Big Sur) that if I switch from Standard to Advanced mode, I only get one copy, not multiple.
If you're on a PC, can you confirm that that will work as well? If it does not, which version of Windows are you using?
If you're on a Mac, please identify which OS you are using and let us know if this works or not.
Thank you,

It does not work. I have the latest version of everything. Windows 11

Thank you for that update.
as Lumigraphic stated, until the repair is released, your best option is to download the images via the Explorer.
Again, thanks for testing.

Hi rrozema54@gmail.com
The Ingest issue on MAC is fixed in the latest Bridge release (version 12.0.2) that is available today.
Do update to the latest available version and loop back if its resolved for you now.

So it is 2024 and I have the latest Adobe Bridge and a Canon R camera. I used to use the EOS downloader but it started having some issues about 6 months ago and so used Adobe Bridge which makes two copies of every image. Maddening. So does Canon have a fix. I also was prompted to download a new EOS Utility to download and it gives me a error message that the application is not working. I should not have to just drag and drop images into a premade folder but that is my solution at this point.

I find it much easier and more reliable to use the Finder and a card reader.
