Bridge has trouble deleting files and generating thumbnails

Community Beginner ,

Updated to the latest version although the issues has been around for months.

Thumbnail generation: it just lingers inside a folder with raw files and does nothing or takes forever before generating thumbnails even if there are two or three of those.

It sometimes hangs when it has to delete a few files.

I remember it was very snappy a few years ago and wondering why it got this worse.

Does anyone having the same issues? Hints?

Try purging cache for that folder.

I tried everything (purging cache, CTRL+Alt+Shift on startup) but it keeps behaving erratically (very slow when creating thumbnails, freezes when deleting files).

I tried rebooting the PC in safe mode and launching Bridge: it warned that GPU (nVidia 1030 card) had to be deactivated (or something like that) and it seemed to be fast again.
When I reboot in normal mode it SOMETIMES seems to work ok but eventually reverts to sluggish mode.

Tried enabling "Software rendering" in the settings but it doesn't seem to do much of a difference.

Purging folders cache is a hit and miss and it takes forever.

It is pretty unusable...

Bridge uses hardware acceleration but with an older video card, its going to be kind of slow. Also, if photos are on network drives then performance can be bad.

I would expect a consistent low performance behavior with an outdated card but it seems to be performing in an acceptable way at times and refusing to even close itself in others. Hanging when deleting files? I frankly don't believe it is an outdated card problem...

That's not the issue if the files are on an external drive (of any kind): What happens in Bridge, and no other software that I'm aware of, when you delete a file, it first is sent to the computer and then into the computer's trash (bin). The greater the number of files, the longer this takes. Despite repeated requests for why this is done, there have been zero responses.

It hangs or takes forever even deleting one file on an internal SSD. I see this forum and reddit are full of similar reports so it must be a widespread issue Adobe is refusing to fix...
