Bridge Missing the Autofill section in File info

New Here ,
Aug 08, 2019 Aug 08, 2019

I am using the latest version of CC and autofill in the file info section in bridge is no longer working.  Does anyone know if that facility  has been removed or if it is possible to restore it and how?  Thank you.

Really need it to be solved, as it majorly impacts my workflow. I catalog thousands of images a week using bridge and it is extremely time consuming to have to re-type metadata again and again. Of course, I know how to add identical metadata to multiple files, but that isn't always practical, as certain images that need certain metadata may not be right next to one another or even in the same folder.

PLEASE fix this soon Adobe!

Hi UghDobe,

Sorry that you're unable to locate the File info "Autofill" menu in Bridge.

The File Info panel in Bridge is now similar to Photoshop, please check this link for more info: New features summary for the October 2017 release of Bridge CC

The improved File Info dialog (File > File Info) is now similar to the one available in Photoshop CC. When you edit metadata in the Metadata panel or assign keywords to a file, the same information is displayed in the File Info dialog, and vice-versa.

File info

Thanks,

Akash

There is an open bug in the Keywords panel vs the Info panel, keywords are NOT written correctly in either Bridge or Photoshop. Just an FYI.

Hi Bradley,

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues. Can you share more details or a video so that we can see the problem. This may be specific to a workflow or machine configuration.

Thanks,

Smriti

Hi Smriti,

Thank you for the swift reply. I was able to figure out how to create metadata using the file info tool, but I have found it wildly inconsistent about when it decides to save what I input there. In particular, I'm using two fields for metadata entry for which I need to have auto-complete work: sublocation and IPTC Subject Code.

Here's what I'm experiencing, in way of an example:

I select a group of four images for which I want to add this text (what falls inside the quotes) to the sublocation field: "Lhasa {1234}"

With the four images selected from the metadata view, I then enter the file info interface and type out "Lhasa {1234}" into the sublocation field and hit "Tab" to go to the next field. Then I click "ok".

According to how I understand the auto-complete function, I am supposed to be able to navigate to another set of images, perhaps in a different folder, and follow the same procedure above and when I get to the data entry part and go to the sublocation field I should be able to start typing "Lh..." and have auto-complete suggest "Lhasa {1234}". I have found that this works sometimes with some entries and sometimes not, with other entries. Note: all entries follow the format of a word or two followed by {####}.

I have also run into this problem for the IPTC Subject Code field where I am also entering data like "Mountain {2345}".

Before switching to Bridge, I used Phase One Media Pro for cataloging, and it had two excellent features: 1. the ability to provide a comma delimited list of terms that could then be used as a "word bank" for auto-complete on the IPTC Subject Code field (or any field, for that matter). I wish Bridge would have something like that.

Thanks.

The other excellent feature was custom metadata fields, but I know that doesn't work with bridge, since it uses a fixed set of metadata and no catalog file, which I think is a superior method for doing metadata cataloging.

Autofill is gone. Nuked when Adobe changed to the same panel used in Photoshop.
