I just started using bridge 2024 after using a 2018 version for years and never had this problem. I have a new imac oS Sonoma 14.4. When in Bridge it does not always show the correct preview. It is double generating one next to it. The image preview seems lagging after I sort them and move around. I tried emptying the cache, again it's new not used much yet. I am importing jpegs that have been processed in lightroom and I want to sort them in bridge in a certian order, then change the image numbers sequenced. I attached some screen shots.
What am I doing wrong?
thanks

Hi, @hfowler, To be honest, I'm not sure what you are seeing. In your "Image #1 in bridge", I'm not fully sure which image is the issue, that I'm seeing in "actual image of #1." Can you please try again to show what the issue is? You know what you're looking at, I do not know what to look at.
Meanwhile, I'm not fully sure I understand why you are moving the images from Lightroom (Classic or Desktop, please let us know which you are using for this), and then moving them into Bridge for sorting. Sadly, the best way to sort images in Lightroom Classic or Bridge is: after arranging them to the order you want, to then rename them.
Alternatively, in LRC, you can change the "Edit Capture time" from the Metadata menu in Library mode. In Bridge, you can go into Metadata and change the time in the Date Created field, but this will not show up in the Date Create file, only in the Metadata. Again, unless there are major reasons for not doing this, I've found that renaming the files after they are in your desired order to be the most robust mechanism.
Lastly, unless you've set your LRC Catalog settings to "Automatically write changes into XMP," any adjustment you do in LRC will not be there in the Finder's version of your images that will be seen in Bridge.
Yes, there are some that say there are no issues of mixing Bridge and Lightroom Classic, there are many more who only see issues and problems. I do not know (yet) if this is the cause of your problems, but there's nothing you've mentioned (so far) to make the use of Bridge a necessary part of your process.
I'm pretty sure I've not helped you yet, but at least we have started.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for you help. Yes the image labeled "actual image of #1" is just a screen shot of the finder showing that image #1 is a photo of a girl in pink dress. Then in the screen shot labeled "image #1 in bridge preview is duplicate to #2" is showing that when this folder is loaded into bridge you DO NOT see image #1 as a girl in pink dress but instead #1 shows a duplicate of #2 which is of a vase of flowers. I was just using those image to demonstrate what bridge is showing. It shows this throughout the 671 images randomly duplicating several images in the preview instead of showing the true image.
To explain further why I use Bridge to renumber-
1)I am an event photographer, I sort by time captured, then I need to custom reorder to my liking. Changing the order to show off the images the most intriguing way.
2) It's just that I always have used Bridge and am somewhat new to lightroom. I have not seen a way to reorder images in lightroom. When I try to do this I get this error. I attached it. If I can reorder custom in lightroom, then when exporting the images renumber them in my custom order that would be great! I am totally open to using lightroom to do this. Can you explain how?
Thanks a bunch!!!!

Oh yeah, that is one of the worst warning errors that all of Adobe has in that it doesn't give ANY indication as to how to avoid that error. Rather than writing this all out, I found this video some time back to explain it to me (LOL). It's just an issue that you have to be a bit mindful of where you are in LRC. This covers it very well (and you might as well skip the first 30 seconds).

Hi Gary,
Thanks yes I watched your video hoping that was the easy answer. But I AM in the "folder" view not the "catalog" view in LR and it is still doing that error and will not let me sort manually. Ugh. How do I go about geting and answer from adobe? Thanks for your help. I did figure out how to do this in photomechanic though, so that is good! But it seems we should be able to do this in lightroom when exporting images.
