Can't select Bridge as the default program for opening Nikon RAW files on Windows 7

Community Beginner ,

My problem is that I can't select Bridge as the default program for opening Nikon RAW files on Windows 7. When I try to by either right clicking a file and choosing open with -> choose default program or via the control panel, I get to the window where I can choose the program from a list of reccomended ones or search the computer for a custom program. Since Brigde is not on the list, I search for its file path and then choose the bridge.exe but it doesn't change anything, Bridge doesn't even appear in the list of chooseable programs and so I am unable to choose it.

Is there any fix for this problem? before Bridge CC (2015) I never had this problem.

Sincerely,

Niko Supplieth

Please go to this location C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CC (2015) and look for Bridge.exe, Rename the Bridge.exe file to

Bridge CC 2015.exe

Then Right-click on a raw file and Choose Properties.

In the General Tab, You will see "Opens With", Click on Change and choose bridge cc 2015 then click OK.

Hi Niko,

Please refer to this article as this will work for Raw formats aswell

JPEG files don't open from Bridge, or open in an application other than Photoshop

Regards,

Sahil

Hello Sahil,

thank you for your answer but I think you misunderstood my problem.

What I am unable to do is to make  Windows open Nikon raw files with bridge by default when double clicking on them.

Regards,

Niko

Okay, I understand now what you need to do is Right Click on a Raw file and choose Open with > Choose Program, Then choose Bridge and Check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and hit OK.

I tried to do it this way but Bridge is not on the list of chooseable programs, I can search for it on my C drive an select the Bridge.exe but Windows doesn't add it to the list when I hit open.

Maybe this is a problem with Windows, but I can choose literally any other program than Bridge.

Right-click on a raw file and Choose Properties.

In the General Tab, You will see "Opens With", Click on Change and choose bridge then click OK.

Then try to open the raw file by double clicking on it.

Please let us know about the outcome.

I tried this and unfortunately this failed, since it only is another way to open the window where I am unable to select Bridge.exe
