Displaying Full File name in Thumbnail View

New Here ,
Dec 12, 2016 Dec 12, 2016

Is there a way to use the thumbnail file view, and have it display the entire file name? I realize that viewing in the List mode displays the full file name, but I would like to be able to see the full file name in the thumbnail mode. I have searched through the preferences and also could not find anything relevant in the already posted community discussions - any chance there is someone out there who can help me out?

Any info would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!

Hi Dsagaser,

There are two opposing conditions here: how much text is in your file name and how big your thumbnails are. You can either decrees the number of letters in your file name OR increase the size of your thumbnails. If you increase the size of your thumbnails to a point that they are too big, you need to decrease the numbers of characters in your file names. Fortunately or unfortunately you cannot change the font size and as such you are limited to balancing the two other options.

Hope this makes sense, let me know if it does not.

I would be simple enough, I imagine, for Bridge to display the filename on multiple lines in much the same way the OSX finder renders the filename – no matter what the thumbnail size.

Good idea. You can make requests like this directly to the Bridge team now (this is a new feature from Adobe). You can put this forth here:

Bridge | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Go for it!

Sadly... 6 years later, no change.

Multiple lines would be hugely helpful.

Unfortunately it seems Bridge is a dead software. I'm personally still running the 2022 version becasue tbe newer versions are so broken that they've become unusable.

Small fixes like this could be done during the lunch break of a single coder but they choose not to.
