I added about 6,000 photos into a file and they were all fine, but now this one specific file is read only and I can't rotate images and I'm not sure how or why it changed?

Too many unknowns.
What is your Operating System and Bridge version?
You can't add photos to a file, do you mean to a folder?
How did you add them, using Bridge or via the Operating System?
6000 photos in one folder is, in my view, too many. Split them into smaller folders.
Bridge does not have the capability to alter folder Read/Write attributes. Check settings using your Operating System.

I've been doing it this way for years. I'm a wedding photograher and have been doing it this way for over 10 years. I'm using Mac Venture 13.3. ADOBE BRIDGE 13.0.8.775.
All the photos were adding by dragging and dropping from the memory card to a folder on my desktop. All the other photos I've added are fine in bridge and I'm able to rotate. But for some reason this one folder out of multiple is read-only.

So can't you alter the Read/Write attribute using your Operating System? (I am a Windows user so can't give you specific details.)
Have you considered using the Bridge Photo Downloader instead of dragging and dropping. It is generally pretty foolproof and also has lots of useful functionality such as renaming, adding metadata like copywrite details etc. It is also able to backup files as they are downloaded.
By the way, Bridge is now up to version 14.1.1.274 so your version is somewhat out of date.

Hi, @nicolem5828349, curious. I would like for you to check something for that folder AND at least one of the files you know to be "read only." It sounds like one of the system Preferences for that folder got tripped. Normally, it should show "Read & Write" as it does in the first image below. If yours says Read Only, you need to (and can) fix that.
Click on the folder that contains the images in the Finder and press Command-i. This will bring up a long window on the left side of the screen for "Get Info."
On the very bottom you will see this section:
The first thing you need to do is to unlock the lock on the bottom right with your administrator's password.
Next you need to see if any of the "Privileges" are not set correctly. If you're not sure, go to a folder that is operating correctly and see what that's set for. If one of them is not correct, press on the dropdown menu of that Privilege and select the correct option. (Note: all of the above settings are correct.)
(Note, I'm just showing you what it should look like if you press on one of the options).
Lastly, if you find that there are a number of image folders that are all botched up, you can fix them all very quickly by using the gear icon in the very bottom by going to the folder that contains all of these other folders, fixing that main folder and then taking advantage of the dropdown shown below.
BUT BEWARE: this can be a very dangerous folder if you happen to do this to a folder with any applications or such things in that folder, you are likely to make those things inoperable. (don't ask me how I know). As long as you are working on folders of files you should be good, but applications, plugins, etc. DON'T!!!!!
Hopefully this will work, good luck.

I was able to get to that and it shows the same as you have "read & write". The first 2 files in the folder are able to be opened, but the rest are read only.

Did you fix that as I showed?

When I open the files that show up as read only in bridge, they show up as read & write in the privledge box.

Hi, @nicolem5828349, what about the folder? What does that show?

The folder also shows read & write. When I import into lightroom, I can rotate and edit the photo. So it's only in bridge that it's not accessible to change.
