I got my Photoshop CS3 and Camera Raw loaded onto my new computer. In Bridge my jpeg images (thumbnails) do preview in the Content area but my raw images (or Canon CR2 images) are displayed as generic blue icons with the file number. When I double click on them it does open the Camera Raw dialog box but I would like to see all the raw thumbnail files in Bridge content at once as I can do with the jpeg files.

you need cr 4.6. you can update to the latest version of ps and bridge cs3 to obtain cr 4.6
update by downloading the files directly and then applying them: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

I already have Camera Raw 4.6 and it is working. I can load raw images from Bridge and get the Camera Raw dialog box. It only the raw thumbnails in Bridge that appear as generic blue icons in the context. There must be something in "preference" area that control the view.

What operating system are you using?
If in Bridge CS3 you go to Edit>Preferences>Camera Raw Preferences (windows) or
Bridge CS3>Camera Raw Preferences (mac), what version does it say at the top?

I am using windows 10.
When in Bridge and go to Edit>Camera Raw Preferences it says that it is Version 4.0 which is strange because I copied version 4.0 and then removed (deleted) it from C:/Adobe/PhotoshopCS3/Plugins/File Fomats/Camera Raw. And then copied version 4.6 to that location. And also, now when I am in Photoshop CS3 and go to Help>About Plug-in there are two Camera Raws listed. Is this the source of the problem and if so, how can there be two Camera Raws listed there when I deleted the 4.0 version?

Your using the 32 bit version of windows 10?
Delete the camera raw plugins in
C:/Adobe/PhotoshopCS3/Plugins/File Formats
The 4.6 camera raw plugin goes in
Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats

Hi. I am actually operating on a Mac computer. I used bridge two days ago and it was fine. But I wipe out my computer and reinstalled my programs.

Update all your Adobe software to the latest point release version. You probably installed the original release and never updated to the newer Point releases.

That did resolve which version of Camera Raw is being used. Version 4.6 is now in effect. But the generic blue icons still remain in the Bridge content area.

robertk,
So in
Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
you only have one Camera Raw.8bi file?

Yes I have only one Camera Raw.8bi file currently. In that thread Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats a Camera Raw 4 and Camera 8 do appear along with Plug-Ins as a sub-division of Adobe.
Also, I had done Tool>Cache>Purge Cache. But I did just tried it again, with no success.

I tried all the methods above and I am still unable to view thumbnails. I am however unable to open them in camera raw either. So I know my problem is with my camera raw not being up to date however none of the updates I have downloaded have worked either. I used this program 2 days ago fine, and did not need the DMG converter. I am running CS6 and have a canon 6d.

alyssadenise86,
You said you wiped your computer, meaning you reinstalled mac os x?
Have you used Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get the latest cs6 updates?

I reienstalled my OS yes. But I knew my
Problem was with my camera raw version not being up to date to support my 6D. However I also knew I didn't need the DMG converter before. I kept reading the forums on here and found that under help in photoshop you can find out if there are any updates for your software and it downloads them directly. I was just downloading the wrong updates before! It's all worked out now. Thanks!!

Bridge CC 2017 doesn't work with photoshop cs3 or any non photoshop cc version.
For example, Edit in Camera Raw would no longer work because the camera raw version that goes with bridge cc 2017 requires a photoshop cc version in order to work.
