Has anyone experienced this, where opening a directory in Bridge, a file opens automatically?

In Bridge, when I go to a directory (or folder), an Illustrator file opens automatically from that directory?

I've had this happen with Indesign files also in the past, on a different workstation which was Windows 10.

  • This computer is Windows 11, 23H2.
  • Network Attached Storage directory.
  • Latest Version of Bridge.
  • Latest Beta Illustrator 2025 opens, but this is only because the Beta of Illustrator is the set as default app for .ai files on my workstation.

Thanks,

Joie

Bridge doesn't really work well with network storage. If that particular file is moved, does this continue to happen?

I just did some tests. If that particular file is removed, it does not happen where the file is 'auto-opened" (let's call this 'bad-behavior').  However, I DID discover 2 new things:

(1) the file that is auto-opened does NOT have to be IN that directory, and,

(2) it happens when I use the 'Reveal Recent' drop-down link in the menu across the top of Bridge.  The bad behavior does not happen if I navigate manually to the directory in the Folders portion of Bridge's UI.

(3) and finally, when removing a specific file, testing it and then finding out that the bad behavior has been broken, THEN replacing it back to its original location, it WILL bring back the bad behavior but with a DIFFERENT directory on that same file. (all while using the Reveal Recent drop-down.)

I'm going to clear the Reveal Recent list to see if this affects anything.
