I just installed Bridge on my computer and tried to personalize the layout but everything went wrong. I undocked panels and it became a mess.

How do I reset the default layout in Bridge?

FYI, I never save any layouts in Bridge.

Thank you

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi, @theodora0101, This is pretty easy (once you know the secret handshake). To the right of any Workspace, you'll see three horizontal bars. These are affectionately known as a "hamburger menu." If you right-click (Command-click if you do not have a right/left button on your mouse), you'll see the following:

If you select "Revert to Saved Layout," you'll return to the original layout where it was last saved. Be aware that you cannot save a default layout that has been changed. Let me explain: if you create your own Workspace and later make a change to it, you can then save these changes with the "Save Changes to this Workspace" option. But if you take a default Workspace (say Essentials) and make a change, you cannot save that change. You have to "Save as a New Workspace" and give it a name such as "Ted's Essentials.

BTW, Congrats on experimenting with different forms of the layouts. It's great to customize any layout to meet your goals and needs. Also, be aware that you can slide layouts left or right to place them in a better location for you, and if a layout that you're looking for is not seen, simply select the "Edit Workspaces…" option, and you can move your layouts to your satisfaction.

Thank you so much for your time Gary.

I ended up uninstaling and re-instaling Bridge. It's probably not the best way to do it but it worked.

It's a shame the last version of Bridge is so complex to use.

All the best

You do what you want to do. But keep in mind that uninstalling and reinstalling an application takes much longer than going to a hamburger menu and selecting one specific choice, and you're done.

But I do understand sometimes it's easier to get the job done as opposed to getting the job done the right way. But, if this was hard, that's one thing. This is so easy, it's another. Please, for your own benefit, check out what I wrote. It will make things so much faster in the long run.

Good luck!

Thanks. Lost my Metadata and preview sidebar. Why can't the they just have a simple show or hide option? Typical Adobe making things more complicated than need be.

Sorry, @grahamriddell57, but it is pretty easy to fix this. In fact, there are two ways:

!) Reset a Workplace back to how it was set up originally.

To do this, click on the hamberger menu adjacent to the name of the Workspace (right or left click, it does the same thing), and select Revert to Saved Workspace.

Alternatively, if you want to add, subtract, or retrun a specific option, Go to the Window Menu, and select it.

Also be aware that any of the default workspaces cannot be saved as a new one. That's why there's the option to "Save as a New One." Thus, you can select ONLY the options you want, and omit the ones you do not, or rarely need. Oh, one of the other aspects that Bridge's Workspaces provide is to update a Workspace. Thus, if you later want to update a Workspace you made, you can update it rather than have to give it a new name like you do in all other Adobe applications.

Hope that helps.
