SAVE BRIDGE CACHE TO FOLDER

Old Bridge had a function to save the cache to folders.  Why has it been removed in the cloud version?

It also seems that I can't even save the Bridge cache to my C drive.   It appears that the only cache option is that it's saved on the cloud, rather than in my C drive.  I really don't like this as the cloud may not be available.

Feature request:  bring back the function to save the cache to folders.  This is better for file saving of individual folders (and their subfolders) rather than having to have one whopper sized Bridge Cache file.

Thanks.

Look in Bridge Preferences under cache management. You can choose any location you wish for cache storage. You will need to restart Bridge if you change the location.

Thanks Eric but this doesn't fully answer my question.

(1)   A few months ago, my only cache option was that it was saved on the cloud, rather than in my C drive.  I see now that the option to save the cache to a folder in my C drive is available, so that's a bit of progress.

(2)  However, there was an option to save cache to folders PLURAL.  That is, each folder of photos had the cache saved to that individual folder.  The difference / benefit was as follows:

(a)  I have over 700 GB of photo files, held in over 800 different folders (that helps me to find photos easily), and the total cache is 99,000 files totalling 70 GB.  So if I want to refresh the cache, it can be a very slow process as the whole cache is updated - even when much of the cache is the same because I haven't changed the photos.  And I also save the cache to an external hard drive, so a 70 GB save also very long.

(b)  The cache for most of the folders doesn't change once I've processed my photos to their final state.  So the only cache change that occurs is when I take a new batch of photos.  I think the cache holds old info, eg if I edit a file and there's a cache for that photo and its settings, and then I delete the file, the cache doesn't update the cache and the info for deleted files remains.  To get rid of that, I have to update the ENTIRE cache for that ONE folder.  Let's say that 5 GB.  BUT, to save the updated cache for that one folder, I have to save the ENTIRE BRIDGE CACHE of 70 GB.

If I could save the Bridge Cache to INDIVIDUAL folders, then I'd only have to update and re-save the cache for that one folder:  5 GB versus 70 GB.

So I repeat my request to be able to save cache to folders   PLURAL - ie individual Explorer folders that hold the related photos.

The option to save cache to folders was removed a long time ago. You could make a feature request for its return. This is the appropriate place:
