I am using Adobe Bridge CC Version: 9.0.2.219 x64. There are menus across the top. The navigation pane is on the left. There is a filmstrip along the bottom (content) and a preview pane in the top-middle, encompassing most of the screen area. I want to make the preview image bigger so I will have a closer look at objects in the image. I want to be able to pan the image around while I am looking at the image. I do not want a magnifying glass to pop up and just show a part of the image bigger. I have avoided using the word "zoom" because, well I just could not find the answer in the User Manual using that term. I want to click on the image to make it bigger and then pan around the way I can in Lightroom.

It's an extra step but if you press the space bar which will give you full screen preview then you can use the "-" and "+" keys to change magnification and you'll be able to use your mouse point to click and pan, as you say, the enlarged image around.
