P: Previous image briefly appears in Crop tool

Hey all,

huge bug in crop tool in 14.0 LR classic.

When I open the crop tool, it does not show the file I have chosen, but the one I edited before, until it switches to the file I actually want to edit.

Very annoying, got to adjust lots of images and have to wait for like 3 seconds each time, before I can start to edit.

Please fix this

cheers,

Stephan

Every time I use the crop function in Lightroom classic 14, it shows me the image I cropped before

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I see that too, but because it's only for a split second, it doesn't really bother me.

I can't reproduce this on my Windows machine.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

The recent version of LR is 14.0.1. Install the recent update and check.

I see this too on my Mac, but only for a split second. Somebody else reported it too. It doesn't bother me, but that means that resetting the preferences will probably not help.

yeah, done it, not helping. And the bigger the files are that you are editing, the longer it stays on the wrong preview.

It will depend a lot on your hardware too. On my MBP with an M1 Max processor, it's perhaps 0.5 seconds for 60 Mp Sony A7R V files.

I'm noticing when using the crop tool it reverts back to the image you previously cropped before the crop tool then appears on your current image.

Also on the rare occassion a crop won't reset, like the reset button freezes so I need to reset the entire image and start again with all edits.

Anyone experiencing similar?

A reboot doesn't change the behaviour.

Anyone figure a fix? Of course disabling graphics processor stops the issue but makes everything else terrible. Made the mistake updated all catalogs and can't revert to use version 13. So absurd of an issue. Slows workflow and creativity. Useless adobe

Same issue for me (on a Mac).

Also, when I apply a crop to an image in the Develop module, the new crop is not applied until I leave the image and then come back to it.

Same problem here, also Mac. I spoke with Adobe representative, they know about it and will fix in the next update but they can't say when 😞

LRC 14.0.1 and Mac Studio Pro with Ventura 13.4.1

BTW, also seeing this on LRC 14.0.1 with Sequoi on a Macbook Pro M1

Reviewing images on the film strip, I will pres "R for crop as I'm previewing images. But every single time I select "R", or crop, the display switches to the previous image and crop, then I get a flash, and the image preview switches back to the image I'm working on. It's slow, and each time I select crop, it takes about two seconds or more for it to switch back to the current image with my current crop.

Any ideas?

I see my post from today was added to this thread. Thanks. Yes, same issue. It's truly a job killer. Trying to edit even a few dozen pages becomes impossible and I'm scanning books, so this is a work stoppage issue for me.

That's happening to me as well. I use the Loupdeck and thought it might be because I was using that piece of hardware... but sounds like it's an issue.

I count one to two seconds, and I have hundreds of these to edit. So it's work stoppage for me, not just some minor convenience.

I have it, too. It's showing up for about half a second (with an RTX 4070 Super as work accelerator under Windows 11).

Question to all attendee: Most agree that this is a bug but only 3 upvotes at the initial post? I don't get it.
