Substance Painter 2024 10.1.0 is currently broken for Linux users.

We tested the following :

Flatpack / Steam with Substance Painter 2024, no joy. Substance Designer 2024, works.

Steam locally installed on Linux, Substance Painter 2024, no joy. Substance Designer 2024, works.

Always get the same error for Substance Painter 2024 :

com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Substance 3D Painter 2024/Adobe Substance 3D Painter: error while loading shared libraries: libtiff.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Our test we're conducted on Enterprise Linux 9.4 and 9.3.

Locking version to 10.0.1, in the beta section of the parameters of the software in Steam, fixes for now and can be launched.

Although all work done on a Substance 10.1.0 cannot be opened in a 10.0.1 version.

Hi,
My colleague posted this message on the steam community:

We just released Painter version 10.1 (see here for the details).
This new release changes the Qt version we now use. By moving to Qt6 we rely on some system libraries on Ubuntu (Linux) that may not be present by default.
To solve that issue and ensure that Painter can startup properly, install the following libraries (if not already present):
libxcb_cursor:

sudo apt-get install libxcb-cursor0

libtiff:

sudo apt-get install libtiff6

"
I hope this helps,

Kind Regards

Hello,

This did not help at all, 2 things, as mentionned we primarily used Steam via Flatpak and we can't add packages as we like it.

The current error as of today in Flatpak :

app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Substance 3D Painter 2024/Adobe Substance 3D Painter: error while loading shared libraries: libtiff.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Then again tried to install Steam via rpm directly on the OS and was able to get libtiff6 but it requires GLIBC-2.35 that is not under Enterprise Linux 8 or 9, it will be available under Enterprise Linux 10.

I tried to go around but still can't get this fixed so far.

Also reached out to Adobe already to get the .rpm for Linux (Adobe Substance) and sadly like pretty much all small companies we can't afford 30 licences at more than 70000$ (As per client services representative).
