P: Program closes without warning

Explorer ,
Nov 09, 2021 Nov 09, 2021

Again, again, again and again, this is insufferable, I have already lost count of the times that Camera Raw closes unexpectedly with edited photos and I lose everything, I am sick of losing my job because said program closes without warning , This happens since the last update of CAMERA RAW 14.0.0.950 and Photoshop 23.0.0, I have been working in the same way for 15 years and this has never happened, it closes without warning, suddenly, according to what they say happens to More users and they assure me that they are working on it and that in future updates it will be fixed, incredible in "future updates" from which I deduce that I will have to continue predicting my work and my patience while waiting for several months or more, this does not It's serious Adobe gentlemen.

My computer is iMac 27 Retina 5K with masOS Big Sur 11.5.2 with a 4.2 processor - Intel core i7 of 4 cores with 48gb ram and graphics a Radeon Pro 580 8GB

I have less than a year old iMac and haven't had a PS crash since I got the new iMac. That is until the upgrade to PS 23.0 Now I am crashing about 50% of the time on the transfer from RAW to PS. Is this a known bug? If so, is it going to be patched?

I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system.

If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

I have submitted every one, but (and this is a huge but) I have not been adding my email. Didn't realize I needed to do that. Will do so going forward. That being said, I haven't tried editing any photos yet today.

Oh, I just realized, I'm probably not submitting either, I'm just clicking on the Mac function, send report. I'll also do the follow up to the link. Apologies.

No problem! I'll look for a report submitted with your email address. It really helps us narrow down whether you're seeing something we're already working on or a different issue we need to dig into. Thank you!

The gentlemen of Adobe have changed the title of the thread, I titled it "Serious problem with the last update of Camera RAW 14.0.0.950 and Photoshop 23.0.0"

The problem goes on and on and on and on, when are they going to fix the problem?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And because the changes are not saved automatically when it is closed, at least when you reopen the files you would already have the changes in the edition and you would not have to start editing from the beginning.

Try logging into another account (you may need to make one): does it still close?

If you boot into Safe mode (hold down Shift Key at boot): does it still close?

Have you tried running a free utility like Onyx to see if that stops the issue?

It is not that, the program works perfectly, it opens, you edit photos, but one out of every two times it closes without warning, it is suddenly and it disappears from the screen, it does not warn of any error, it closes without more.

I am seeing a lot of unexpected program closures. I am editing in ACR (14.1.0.993) from Bridge (22.5.4.631) and the crashes come while using the new masking features - usually createing/manipulating a Sky Select and maybe a Linear Gradient intersted with a Sky Select - and "BAM", the both ACR and Br quietly close and all my edits are lost. As a work around I am opening ACR making just a couple edits and closing to save the edits and reopening ACR to continue. Wish there was (and maybe there is but I don't know it) a method to save the work to file periodically from ACR without exiting.

Granted my files are large, ~49 MB from a D850. All my crashes appear to be while creating masks.

Correction to my post of yesterday, January 10, 2022. The version of Bridge I was using was 12.0.0.234. I had nistakenly put the version of Photoshop when I meant Bridge.

Today I was informed by the CC app that a newer version of Bridge was available; version 12.0.1.246. So I updated Bridge this mroning and I retried the edits that I thought might reproduce the abrupt program closures I was experiencing with ACR and Bridge. So far - fingers crossed - I have not seen the program crashes. I will continue on today with more editing and see if this has fixed my issue.
