P: Retouch circle automatically becomes smaller on images with Transform Adjustments

Since I have updated to Lightroom Classic 12.4, the retouch circle automatically becomes smaller every time I use it in the same picture. For example, I put the width of the circle on 20 and use it, then I go to another spot in the picture to use the same tool and automatically LR has changed the width to 19. Then to 18, 17, 16 and so on. Anyone having the same problem? This looks like a bug?

Thank you for any comments.

Hi...  Reporting a bug.

In Adobe Camera RAW and in the Healing - Clone Mode,  the Healing Tool Icon - Pointer gets smaller as you click the mouse (Its a circle).

The size reduces by 1 pixel at a time. until it reaches 1.

Noting that this happens AFTER you have manipulated the Geometry of the image via the Geometry Panel. The ICON should NOT get smaller.

If I manipulate the other panels such as Light, Color etc the icon stays the same size when in the Healing Mode.

That's a fantastic illustration. Brilliant!

Not only is the bug driving me a bit nuts, but I've also noticed a severe performance hitn when using the healing brush tool on a image with lots of dust to spot. I mean it slows the system (Apple Studio - updated OS and LR Classic version) to a crazy degree. I'll probably start a new topic on it.

Recently I have noticed that the diameter of the spot removal tool decreses in size automatically after each click. This is happening on both mine and my girl friends instances of lightroom classic.

You can see in the attached recording after each click the size goes down by 1 or 2 points.

I believe this has been a known bug for a long time (can't find the report, however). I have no idea why this is still not fixed.

It's a old bug and really annoying since I use this tool every day. It can't be difficult to fix if they cared.

Not sure if it helps Adobe prioritise this but it has been irritating me for some time too. Making long exposures on the beach,  seaspray lands and condenses on the glass filter, with many spots to heal , some attention to sorting out known errors, rather than developing new ideas would be appreciated

The way I understand it is that for a long time Adobe could not reproduce this problem. Now it has become clear that it only occurs when the image has been transformed -either by the Upright tools or by a lens profile- it should hopefully not take that long anymore for a fix.

HOW IS THIS NOT FIXED?!?

The clone/heal tool is the single most used tool for most photographers.  I use it on nearly 100% of the 100's of photos I shoot daily.  Embarassing that this is not fixed.  Stop adding handfuls of new (and buggy) features and fix the existing bugs.  I thought this was the preeminent editing software - PFTT!

I suppose if you are a software engineer/developer working on new projects is a better way to develop and enhance your career, however  I find it hard to imagine that someone isn't  tasked to quality control the overall offering. Come on Adobe have some pride in your product and sort out problems that you have been aware of for an unacceptably long time without paying proper attention to your failings

How has this problem still survived another patch.  You guys NEED to fix the ever shrinking heal tool.  Every time you use the heal tool (in any version: heal, clone, adaptive) it shrinks and shrinks after every application.

SHOW SOME EFFORT AND FIX THIS!

Yeah, that's a shout.  You have ignoed this long enough.  This is the one of the most important tools and it has been broken for months. NO EXCUSE!

I have the problem of the healing tool getting smaller with each click with Lightroom 13.2

.The difference with some reports in this forum is that it happens ONLY after having used the transform tool  to rectify vertical lines. Any explanation why it would only be in this case?

It's a bug that seems to occur only with transformed images (also with lens corrections).

When I use any of the 3 healing brushes, that is click a spot on the image, the size of the brush decreases by 1. This bug is present on the latest update on both Mac and PC.

Same experience here, with the spot healing tool.

Using: LrC 13.3, MacOS 14.5, M2

This is brand new to me, with v13.3. Never experienced it before the recent update.

I'm in the midst of archiving hundreds of old '90s film prints: scan, crop, basic edit, clean, sync with Cloud.

So there's a lot of spot-cleaning to be done (normally this is a tool I use only sparingly for regular photography, but it's required multiple times per image for this project) - and, as film scans (JPEG) are the source, I'm not using lens profiles or transform tools (which this bug has been associated with).

The behaviour is not consistent - on some images, the spot circle will remain the same size, on others it will decrement in size with each application.

One thing to note (may not be relevant), but I did notice that after the LrC 13.3 / Lr 9.3 update that my entire film-scan archive (800+ images) resynched with the Cloud - i.e. not just the latest batch I'd dragged over to the synched Collection within LrC, but everything was (re-)updated.

I realise this is a known issue, but my experience doesn't involve lens profiles / transform tools.

Just updated LrC to version 13.3, and got this annoying bug (new to me).

It occurs also on un-transformed and no-lens-corrected images.
It does not happen if make a shape by moving the mouse, only when doing a one click.

EXTREMELY frustrating, as I have a bunch of old slide scans to clean the dust off.

Since upgrading to 13.3 the healing, remove and clone brushes don't work right. Each time I use the brush, it decreases in size. I set it to 18, click once, it's at 12; click again, it's at 8; again, 5, 3, 2, 1. It also happens with the new generative AI. Hopefully, this is a bug and not a "feature," as it is not a feature I appreciate. Tried restarting Lr and the computer, but with no effect.

Hello,

I downloaded the latest lightroom and the brush tool is not functioning properly. I thought it was my mouse, bought a new mouse. It's not the mouse. It's just auto scrolling to lowest size possible even as I'm applying it to a photo. Any help? I already reset the lightroom preferences.

It's an old bug, first reported a year ago but not fixed yet. It's reported to happen more often on images on which Transform has been used or a lens profile applied.
