Brush in mask section not working correctly

I updated ACR to 17.4. 1 and now the brush in the mask section doesn't work normally anymore. When I try to mask an area I only see the red overlay very slightly, no matter how many times I brush over it, it only stays very slightly red. What I try to adjust with the brush now also works very minimally. In the overlay settings the overlay is at 100% Before the update the brush worked perfectly, does anyone know what the problem could be?

What values have you set in your Brush's settings for Flow and Density? It is likely one of those is set to a very low value instead of closer to 100%
